yoga e-lesson 14:Decide to Live Fully Now
2010-01-27
Dear Yoga Friends:
You already have a great spiritual power at your disposal. That is the power to decide.
Until you use your power to decide, the world decides what happens to you. There is always someone making demands on you. There are an endless number of tasks on your to-do list. Life often feels dull, full of delays and lacking in meaning. You know there is more to you and your life but when will your good appear?
When you tap into your decision making power about a specific dream or goal, you mobilize hidden forces in yourself and others that compel your good to appear.
One of the most common reasons we fail to decide is that we are deciding to fail. What if it doesn't work out? What if it's a mistake? It's better to make a firm commitment and change course later if necessary than to give up the power that is your birthright. The real mistake is to let life roll over you.
What have you always wanted to do but haven't firmly decided to do? (Deciding to do something means you take actions now, and envision a specific time frame.) For a lot of people I talk to, learning yoga is one of those things. Other things can be taking a trip, spending time with someone, taking a course, getting serious about practicing self-care or going on a spiritual renewal retreat.
It won't happen if you don't make a firm decision to do it. You can't act "in the future" because the future never comes. There is only today to make a real commitment to living the way you know in your heart you were meant to live.
Today, stop for a few minutes and quiet your mind. Look inward and ask what is stopping you from deciding to move forward on a dream today. Ask what it would take to just get started. Then do that thing right away or as soon as humanly possible.
Once you make one firm decision and take one concrete action, more will follow. Soon you will look back and wonder why you ever waited so long to decide.
Peace and Blessings,
Ruth Anne
